Click
To click is to point the mouse arrow at the target object (e.g. text link) and pressing the mouse button.

Coupon Number
Coupon numbers are pre-registered numbers required by the program to gain access to evaluation forms and allow online submission. These secure numbers are embedded in coupons or letters that are distributed to doctors in a number of ways. See Acquiring Coupon Numbers.

Cursor
The cursor is a small blinking light on your screen that indicates where the next character you enter from your keyboard appears.

Express Menu
An Express Menu is a drop-down list box of all the links in the PMA web site. You can use this for a quick browsing of the links. To use the Express menu, just click on the browse button to drop the list and select the link where you wish to go. After selecting, click on the [Go] button on the right.

Home page
The home page is the opening page that is displayed on your screen after you access the PMA web site. This page contains navigation tools and links that carry you to the different parts of the web site.

Links
Links can be in the form of text, graphics, or buttons that you can click to open a related page. The mouse arrow turns to a hand whenever it is pointed to a “link”. A text link is usually colored and its color changes whenever this text link is selected to signify that you have already been to this link. See the PMA Site main links.

Monitor
A monitor is an output device, similar to a television screen, that a computer uses to display information about what the computer is doing.

Navigation bar
This bar displays menus that you can click to open related information in another page. The PMA Site navigation bar is the bar located on top of each PMA Site web page just below the web site title. See the PMA Site navigation bar.

OCAP
OCAP means Online Continuing Medical Education Program.

Printer
A printer is an output device used by computers to produce all kinds of hard copy reports and documents covering the activity of the computer.

News – The News page contains important facts and latest information about the medical society, e.g. medical trends, medical advisories, medical discoveries, etc.

Home – The Home link brings you back to the home page. The home page is the opening page that is displayed on your screen after you access the PMA web site. This page contains navigation tools and links that carry you to the different parts of the web site.

Site map – The Site map page provides you with a guide around this web site. This link gives you a quick reference on where to go when you need a specific information.

Course Catalog – The Course Catalog page lists down the courses that are being offered for PMA OCAP. On this link, you can do the following:

  • Start the Course
  • Request a Coupon Number

Training Schedule – The Training Schedule link contains the timetable for the courses offering for the entire year.

OCAP Suites – The OCAP Suites link lists the pharmaceutical companies that are sponsoring the various courses being offered by PMA OCAP. This section also contains information about what courses the pharmaceutical companies are offering and at what date a course will be available.

OCAP Credit Summary – If you have already taken some OCAP courses and want to have a recap of the total number of credits you have accumulated so far or a recap of the courses you have taken, the OCAP Credit Summary section contains this information.

Sponsors – The Sponsors page contains a listing of all pharmaceutical companies that sponsored the courses. This also includes the links to the sponsors’ web sites.

Site Statistics – The Site Statistics link is for pharmaceutical companies that would like to know some information about the number of doctors that visited the web site or has taken the course offered.

Off-line Courses – For future reference

Medical Libraries – The Medical Libraries page contains links to various medical journals and other medical references.

Related Links – The Related Links page displays some useful links that would be helpful to you.

Feedback – You can send us any feedback or concerns you might have regarding this web site by going to the Feedback section.

The PMA Site is specifically developed for the members of PMA. You need to register in the PMA web site inorder to verify your name against the list of PMA members in our database and to acquire your login name and password. Your login name and password is the first level security access. This means that you will have to supply your login name and password to be able to gain access to important information in the web site. To register, follow these steps:

  1. Go to home page and click on the [Registration] button.
  2. Simply type in your last name in the box below and click on the [Submit] button.
  3. The names carrying the surname you entered will be retrieved from the PMA Site database. If your name is not displayed in the box, click on the [Down Arrow] button to browse other names and click on your full name to select.
  4. Enter the following information in the respective boxes:

  • E-mail Address
  • Desired Login Name
  • Password
  • Confirm Password
  • Please supply a word that will remind you of your password
  1. Click on the [Submit] button.
  2. If you have submitted correct data, you will be prompted that your registration is successful. If there has been errors, you can click on the [Reset] button to clear the boxes so you can enter correct data.

Back to contents VIEWING THE COURSE SCHEDULE

The schedule of the courses offering can be viewed online so you can choose a time that is most convenient to you. To view the schedules of the courses, you can go to the Training Schedules link.

Take a look at the online courses offered on a particular month by pointing and clicking at the specific month from the Training Schedule calendar.

After doing this, all the available online courses for the month you selected will be displayed. You can choose to start the course by clicking on its title. You can only access the course if you have previously registered and acquire your login name and password. See Login Verification.

  1. Select the Course Catalog link. After selecting this link, you are presented with an index of all areas of specialization.
  2. Select the initial letter of the specialization where the course you are looking for falls under. You can click on the alphabets provided in the window. The page will automatically carry you to a listing of all courses starting with the letter you have selected.
  3. Select the area of specialization from the listing to view the available courses. After selecting, the page displays the available course for accreditation, the schedule of the training, and the company that sponsored the said training.
  4. You can click on the Course Title to start the course.
  5. After you click on the Course Title, a Login Verification page will be displayed to prompt you to enter your login name and password. If you do not have a login name and password yet, refer to PMA Site Registration.
  6. After verification, you can access the course. You can take the exam if you have a coupon number.If you have chosen to take the exam, a Coupon Verification page will require you to enter your coupon number. A coupon number is given by the pharmaceutical company sponsoring the course you chose to take. You can request a coupon number online. Refer to Acquiring Coupon Numbers.

Some links require that you enter your login name and password. This is to verify that you have registered with the PMA Site and you are authorize to access important information in the site. If you tried to access some links that require registration, a Login Verification page will be displayed. Simply do the following:

  1. Enter your login name in the login name box
  2. Enter your password in the password box
  3. Click [Submit] button

If your login name and password match with the login name and password in our database of registered physicians, you will be given access to the site you previously selected. If not, it means that you have not previously registered in the PMA web site. Refer to PMA Site Registration.

Back to contents ACQUIRING COUPON NUMBERS

There are variety ways to acquire coupon number from the pharmaceutical company offering the OCAP course:

  • Directly through the medical representative during visitation (or call) hours
  • Through submission of an email or fax request to the sponsoring pharmaceutical company
  • From the component medical societies’ secretariat
  • Accomplishing a request form on the PMA web site and submit on line.
    1. Select the Course Catalog link. After selecting this link, you are presented with an index of all areas of specialization.
    2. Select the initial letter of the specialization where the course you are looking for falls under. You can click on the alphabets provided in the window. The page will automatically carry you to a listing of all courses starting with the letter you have selected.
    3. Select the area of specialization from the listing to view the available courses. After selecting, the page displays the available course for accreditation, the schedule of the training, and the company that sponsored the said training.You can click on the Course Title to start the course.
    4. After you click on the Course Title, a Login Verification page will be displayed to prompt you to enter your login name and password. If you do not have a login name and password yet, refer to PMA Site Registration.
    5. After verification, you can access the course. You can take the exam if you have a coupon number. A coupon number is given by the pharmaceutical company sponsoring the course you chose to take. If you choose [OCAP test], a Coupon Verification page will require you to enter your coupon number.
    6. Enter your coupon number in the box provided. If you do not have a coupon number for this course but you wish to take the course, you can request a coupon number online. Refer to Acquiring Coupon Numbers.
    7. You can print the examination sheets and answer it manually. You can then send this to the PMA secretariat for assessment. If you choose to do it online, you are given two chances to answer the questions. On your first try, the system will check your answers and will display on your screen the questions that you fail to answer. You can again answer these questions. Once you submit the second try, the system will then display the correct answers for these questions.After completing a course, you will receive the corresponding credit for the course. You will be notified through e-mail (or other means of communication) about the credit you earned. If you want to view a summary of the credits you earned, you can go to the OCAP Credit Summary.
  1. To request a coupon number online, do the following:

    2. Select the initial letter of the specialization where the course you are looking for falls under. You can click on the alphabets provided in the window. The page will automatically carry you to a listing of all courses starting with the letter you have selected.

    3. Select the area of specialization from the listing to view the available courses. After selecting, the page displays the available course for accreditation, the schedule of the training, and the company that sponsored the said training.To the of the course title is the Request a Coupon option.

    4. You can click on the Request a Coupon to send an online request.

    5. The system guides you through the process by prompting you on what information you should supply. Simply click on selected options and enter necessary information.

    You can directly take the exam from the home page if you have already taken the course. Just click on the [Take the Exam] button. If you want to review the course before taking the exam, do the following:

    The system logs all site visits, course takes, and exam takes to enable pharmaceutical companies that are offering the online courses to keep track of all the statistics and activities. You can go to Site Statistics to view the logs on the PMA web site. This is useful to pharmaceutical companies if they want know the number of physicians who visited their suites or took the exam. Some statistics are restricted to pharmaceutical companies only and would require sponsor’s login name and password.
